Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Lafayette, California

Worship Schedule

From May 25 through August 31, we celebrate our congregational unity by worshiping together in a single service each Sunday morning at 9:30.  The character of the service is blended, using elements of both traditional and contemporary worship styles.

During the school year, we celebrate the diversity in our congregation

by offering a choice of two Sunday morning worship services.

Classic Service (8:15 am)

Music is led by the organ, piano and Chancel Choir. The spoken liturgy is original or adapted from traditional worship resources; the musical liturgy is most often based on a setting from LBW (The Lutheran Book of Worship, 1978) or ELW (Evangelical Lutheran Worship, 2006) or Haugen's Now the Feast and Celebration.

Choral anthems range from classical music to gospel, ethnic music, and sacred music by modern composers. Congregational song comes from ELW, LBW, With One Voice, and other hymnody resources.

Contemporary Service (10:30 am)

Music is led by guitar, piano and the Voices of Praise. The spoken liturgy is modern and usually original; the musical liturgy is original, based on song literature. Special music is generally of the contemporary Christian genre. Congregational song comes from a variety of modern sources but also includes spirituals, gospel and global music.

On any given Sunday, the music at either service may include an anthem from one of our four younger choirs or the handbell choir. Between services, our God's World Spiritual Discovery Hour provides classes for all ages.
