We kicked off the new year for God’s World with an intergenerational event celebrating the epiphanies of the Exodus story.  Together, we journeyed through three sections of the story, experiencing the Israelites’ epiphanies, and sharing with each other our own stories inspired by Exodus.

We began by escaping from Egypt through Red Sea…

…experiencing the great joy of new freedom.

The joy of escaping from Egypt.

The joy of escaping from Egypt.

We continued through the hot desert, lacking food and water.  We felt “thirsty,” “hungry,” “angry,” “hot,” “exhausted.”   We were angry at Moses.  But then God listened to us and we received food and water.  We remembered times in our own lives when we received a surprise gift:

  • sunshine when it’s supposed to be raining
  • finding our dog
  • help from my cousin
  • a sick day made better
  • receiving flowers
  • visit from family
  • a collection of metamorphic rocks
  • a Nintendo Wii

Finally, we experienced creating a covenant with God, viewing and creating our own art of Moses receiving and sharing the Ten Commandments.

We will continue to explore the Exodus story in God’s World for Kids and Confirmation on January 25, February 1, Febuary 8, and February 22.  Join us at 9:30a.m.
